Stylish and sophisticated
A Michelin starred modern European restaurant and champagne bar with Scandinavian influences
TEXTURE WAS established in 2007 by top chef Agnar Sverrisson and master sommelier Xavier Rousset. Originally from Iceland, Sverrisson moved to the UK in 2001, but remains loyal to his roots, combining Icelandic and Scandinavian ingredients with locally sourced British produce. He met Rousset while they were respectively working as head chef and head sommelier at Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons.
Located between Oxford Street and Mayfair, Texture is a smart, urban restaurant. The spacious Georgian room has been given a slick makeover, with bright contemporary artworks decorating its white walls. Pastel green leather upholstery, driftwood, and striking floral arrangements enliven the neutral furnishings. The menu matches the stylish and sophisticated look, being carefully complex, while still honouring the quality ingredients. Consistency is key, and Sverrisson keenly promotes good, fresh Icelandic produce, including Icelandic cod, Icelandic lamb from Skagafjordur, Icelandic herbs and Icelandic skyr.
The Texture Champagne Bar is a great place both for pre-dinner aperitifs and for sampling Rousset’s extensive and selectively eclectic champagne and wine list. Five sparkling wines and champagnes are offered by the glass and a further 110 champagnes by the bottle. This leaves Texture almost unrivalled throughout the city.
Since its launch, Texture has won a number of awards, including a Michelin star in 2010, The Independent New Restaurant of the Year and Best Newcomer in the Caterer & Hotelkeeper Catey Awards.
