Emphasis on elegance
Elegant Modern European dining in the heart of Mayfair
ANGELA HARTNETT opened the small 60-seater Murano in the heart of Mayfair in August 2008 with Gordon Ramsay. Two years later, having been awarded a Michelin star within a year of opening, she purchased it outright, and her presence remains overt to this day, with her often coming out from behind the scenes to chat with regular diners.
The cuisine is modern European with a strong Italian influence, reflecting Hartnett’s heritage. The menu is flexible and a popular feature is that guests are able to build their own tasting menu – from two to five courses, plus dessert – should they so wish.
The décor is elegant art deco, with spiky chandeliers, recessed spots and wall sconces. The colours are discreet, largely grey, beige and off-white, with Murano glassware, pale green leather chairs, thick curtains and crisp white linen tablecloths.
Service is attentive, and guests may also opt to dine privately, in an adjacent room that can accommodate up to 12 people at an elegant oval table with a direct view into the kitchen.
Alongside the excellent cuisine, there is a large selection of biodynamic wines, which can be expertly introduced and explained by a knowledgeable sommelier.
The emphasis is on elegance.
